According to Ayurveda, illness is caused by an imbalance in the body's doshas, which are the three fundamental principles that govern the body and mind. The doshas are:
Vata (air and ether)
Pitta (fire and water)
Kapha (water and earth)
When the doshas are in balance, the body and mind are healthy, but when they become imbalanced, it can lead to illness. Ayurveda holds that, imbalance in doshas caused by various factors such as lifestyle, diet, stress, genetic, season and many other factors.
For example, if Vata becomes imbalanced, it can lead to conditions such as anxiety, constipation, and dry skin. An excess of Pitta can lead to conditions such as acid reflux, skin rashes, and inflammation. And an excess of Kapha can lead to conditions such as obesity, congestion, and diabetes.
Ayurveda treatment aims to restore the balance of doshas and to prevent future imbalances. This is done through a combination of lifestyle changes, such as diet and exercise, as well as herbal remedies, massage, and other therapies.
